A new framed finish this time, 4 Calling Birds from Nora Corbett's 12 Day's of Christmas.

It is also IHSW this weekend - see Hermie in the sidebar if you want to find out all about it.  My mother will be here this weekend so I am not sure if I will get much stitching done.

Just a quick post

I finished the 6th in Nora Corbett's 12 Days of Christmas series.  I will have an even number of days for Christmas now even if I don't get the others done by then.  I am working now on having 12 days for 2012 Christmas.

Here is 6 Geese a Laying - love the sparkle and a goose that wears necklaces and a crown.

End of the Weekend

My IHSW unfortunately did not involve a large amount of hermiting or stitching.  Too many other things that needed to be done, and I am not sure I got many of those things done either!

I did finish Part 14 of Baroque - onwards to Part 15 (and 16)

I stitched a little bit more of 6 geese a laying - must get this one finished!

And I made a start on Herbularius

Well - it is better than nothing!

I have loved seeing what everyone has been doing this weekend!

An exchange and a goose

I received a parcel from Canada - I was sent a gorgeous biscornu by Leona as part of the Chatelaine Smalls Exchange.  I love getting parcels and it also contained a DMC skein.  This was the first time I had taken part in an exchange and I enjoyed the whole process.

Here is my biscornu (I have never made one).  The design comes from Hummingbird Garden and a free violet design.  I love it

My exchange piece went on a long plane flight across the Pacific Ocean to its new home.  It can be seen here.  It is a needlebook using the free strawberry design from Martina.

The goose refers to Day 6 of Christmas (Nora Corbett) and is now looking a bit like a goose.  Stitching time has been a bit lacking in the last couple of weeks.

Recharged!

Well, it has only taken me almost a week to get a recharged battery into the camera!  It has not been the most productive week in regards to stitching but I got a little bit done.  Why are there so many other things that interfere with stitching time?

I am still trying to catch up on Baroque and that is going to be my weekend aim (again).  I want to finish this little garden and the small part of Part 12 that I have not done.  I will then be half way finished!  Here's hoping for a mini happy dance at the end of the weekend.

I have been keeping up with my Tree of Stitches.  I love this design and it is fun to stitch with all the specialty stitches.  It is designed by Abi Gurden for the Stitch Specialists yahoo group.

I have also started 5 Golden Rings (Nora Corbett 12 Days of Christmas series).  This start is for you Joyce as you asked so nicely when I would start this one after the 4th day was finished.  This one is nice and sparkly - these are nice designs to stitch when I don't feel like doing something large, and just want to sit on the sofa.

The 4th day is done!

4 Calling Birds (Nora Corbett - 12 Days of Christmas series) is finished.

I have spent my evenings this week stitching on beads and more beads (I will be happy to look at a red bead again in a week or 2)

My foot is slowly improving, I am at least a bit faster at walking now and the bruising and swelling is going.  Thanks to everyone who wished me a speedy recovery.

Again, the weekend is not quite my own, with a conference tomorrow, but I hope to get more done of Baroque on Sunday.

3 French Hens - Framed

I just picked up 3 French Hens from the framer.  I am framing them all in the same way and they are looking good together.  I am really liking this festive series and look forward to have Christmas stitching on my wall this Christmas.  I wonder how many days I will have this year?

My week in stitches

Despite the fact that my week kept me away from home for quite a bit of time I have made some progress with some of my projects.

I took my new 12 days of Christmas project - 4 calling birds - away with me and made a start on this.  Still more stitching and LOTS of beading to go.

My Chinese Garden mandala (Chatelaine designs) has also grown, but I am still waiting for some silks to arrive.  I love the richness of the reds in the frame.

I also caught up on my SAL - Tree of Stitches.  I have now done all 9 available parts and await Part 10 on Friday.  I am vey happy with how my blossom tree is blooming.

A finish, floss and my feet!

Finally get to stitch and blog.  I have returned from my holiday in Tasmania, but work has been busy since I returned.

Today is the first day I have done any stitching in almost 2 weeks and I have finished 3 french hens.

I love the big red beads in the holly sprigs.  My mother's holly bush was in berry when I was home and it just asked to be photographed.

I had a couple of parcels waiting for me when I returned filled with stitching goodies.  I had ordered the kit for the Chatelaine design Walled Wisteria Garden and it had taken a long time for Cindy at European cross-stitch to get all the floss but it had finally arrived.  I am going to stitch this on baby powder blue 32ct Jobelan from Stitches and Spice.  I have had the fabric for ages, but I will not start this one straight away as I have too many other things to do at the moment.

There are some beautiful colours and textures with the flosses for this design.

I also had a parcel containing some more supplies for Chinese Mandala.  I have some more flosses and all my beads and sparkly bits.  I am still waiting for my Eterna silks and a few other flosses. (Now I just need to get stitching)

Finally, feet refers to my six days of walking through World Heritage wilderness in Tasmania.  I have picked some photos which shows how lovely this part of the world is and I did enjoy not having a phone or computer for six days (but still had a bed, a shower and good food and wine)

No stitching but the postman delivered a parcel

I have been away for work this weekend.  Very busy weekend and absolutely no time for stitching and very little done last week either.  There is almost a third french hen and that is all I did.

I am not sure I will get much stitching done in the rest of this month either.  I am away the next two weekend first visiting my mother and then doing a 6 day walk in Tasmania.

On the plus side the postman delivered a parcel.  I have got my fabric and about half the floss for Chatelaine Chinese Garden Mandala.  I have ordered my kit from stitches and spice (here in Australia) and Naomi will send the rest of the floss and the beads when she gets them.  I am stitching this one on 32 count linen in Wintered Marble, also from Stitches and Spice.  I love what has arrived so far and it is enough to make a start on Part 1.

I also received my pattern for 4 calling birds (Nora Corbett), the fabric and the sparkly bits that I did not already have to stitch this one.  Very nice colours in this design as well.  I will take french hens and calling birds with me when I go to visit Mum.

Might have to do a bit of Chinese Garden tonight.

My Weekend

Here I am at the end of a hermit and stitching weekend, which was only somewhat successful from the stitching point of view.  I did manage to get some work done on both projects but, as is nearly always the way, not as much as I would have liked.

I did however spend some time playing with my friends new baby chickens.  Very cute and one is named sparkle!

A long weekend and not very much stitching.

Womadelaide (World of Music festival) was on this weekend in Adelaide and I spent a couple of days at this listening to music from around the world.  I have also been into work each day this weekend.

I have not touched Baroque this weekend but I have stitched a french hen.

I could not resist doing her beading, she needed an eye!

I have just picked up my first day of Christmas from my framer.

Nice and simple and I love it.  Wish it were closer to Christmas!

On the second day

I have just finished 2 turtles doves (the second of the 12 days of christmas by Nora Corbett)

I came home from work and decided to make a start on being a stitching hermit (International hermit and stitching weekend) and finished this one.

Unfortunately I have a meeting at work tomorrow morning but my hermit plans are to do some work on Baroque Gardens tomorrow on the second panel of part 9 and then stitch some of Hummingbird garden on Sunday.

I am stitching this on Royal Purple double dyed 32 count linen from Stitches and Spice.  I would like to finish my second hummingbird.

This weekend is such a good excuse for sitting and stitching!  Resistance is futile

Progress

Hi

I have done a little bit more of 2 turtle doves.  I have decided to put beads on as I complete sections of this one rather than doing them all at the end.  My turtle doves now have their beautiful gilded cage.

I have also been doing some of Baroque Gardens.  Learning point - check DMC numbers carefully before doing over 1 stitching!  503 is NOT the same as 3053 and I hate frogging at the best of times, but taking out over one stitching is such a pain!

I would like to have the first panel done by the end of the weekend

Ok, I sat and started the second day of Christmas (Nora Corbett) tonight.  This was not quite what I intended to do tonight.

However, beware large beads - I wonder how many more I will find on the floor - just a little accident.
