Framed on Thursday

From an old to a new finish - this is the Tree of Stitches framed.  I have just got it back from the framer.
I am going to hang it in my bedroom for a splash of spring.  My inspiration was a blossom tree on a clear blue spring day

The design is by Abi Gurden from The Stitch Specialists Yahoo Group.  It is a lovely way of doing a sampler of lots of different specialty stitches

Hello to everyone

I have been away this weekend and so there was hardly any stitching.  The last part of Tree of Stitches was released on Friday, and I had to wait until tonight until I could finish it.  I only got home late on Sunday night.

The last part was the addition of  Horace the rabbit and Lester the owl (and a flower).  My critters are done and it is time for a happy dance!!!

I am going to get this framed and have a little bit of spring in my bedroom.  I loved stitching this with all the different stitches.

Hello

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend.  I survived the course I was involved in organising and the participants seemed to find it worthwhile.  I was very pleased with the feedback and I will keep working to improve it next year (annual course).  It did, however, mean that I haven't really had any stitching time and I like my stitching time at the weekend.

I have come home this evening and completed Part 14 of Tree of Stitches (Abi Gurden (The Stitch Specialists Yahoo Group). Only Part 15 to do and I will have another finish (should be in 2 weeks time)

I have also made a start on the Birds of a Feather (now semi) mystery sampler from With Thy Needle and Thread.  It had been nice to stitch thus far

2 weeks have passed

Where does the time go?  It has been 2 weeks since my last post which was not entirely intentional.  I have been over-one stitching on Baroque - so nothing grows very fast despite the time spent stitching.

I did finish my secret stitching (an exchange piece for the Chatelaine smalls exchange).  This is the first time I have done something like this and I am happy with it.  I will post photos later once it has been sent and received.  I have to admit that the finishing instructions I used did not quite achieve the really nice and tidy finish I would have liked, but it is fine.

I did do part 13 of Tree of Stitches (Abi Gurden).  Only 2 more parts and my tree will be finished.  I love the variety of trees that are growing with this SAL

Part 13 - Tied Windmill Stitch

This stitch required lots of attention to counting to get each stitch in the correct place, but it is a nice stitch.

Recharged!

Well, it has only taken me almost a week to get a recharged battery into the camera!  It has not been the most productive week in regards to stitching but I got a little bit done.  Why are there so many other things that interfere with stitching time?

I am still trying to catch up on Baroque and that is going to be my weekend aim (again).  I want to finish this little garden and the small part of Part 12 that I have not done.  I will then be half way finished!  Here's hoping for a mini happy dance at the end of the weekend.

I have been keeping up with my Tree of Stitches.  I love this design and it is fun to stitch with all the specialty stitches.  It is designed by Abi Gurden for the Stitch Specialists yahoo group.

I have also started 5 Golden Rings (Nora Corbett 12 Days of Christmas series).  This start is for you Joyce as you asked so nicely when I would start this one after the 4th day was finished.  This one is nice and sparkly - these are nice designs to stitch when I don't feel like doing something large, and just want to sit on the sofa.

A Tree and a Garden

Hello to everyone

I have finished another bit of Baroque Garden, the central long row or border.  I changed the placement of the purple and brown to form a twist pattern in this central piece.  It was only a partial twist on the chart.

Only the other little tiny bit of border on the left side and part12 is done.  Then I will do the second garden of Part 11 (and then Part 13 - I will catch up, I will catch up...............)

I also finished Part 10 of my Tree of Stitches SAL.  I am loving do this tree with all the different specialty stitches.

I hope to make more of a headway into Baroque this weekend.

My foot is still sore, but I am walking faster (but everyone still overtakes me!).  Guess it will be another 3 or so weeks before it heals completely.

My week in stitches

Despite the fact that my week kept me away from home for quite a bit of time I have made some progress with some of my projects.

I took my new 12 days of Christmas project - 4 calling birds - away with me and made a start on this.  Still more stitching and LOTS of beading to go.

My Chinese Garden mandala (Chatelaine designs) has also grown, but I am still waiting for some silks to arrive.  I love the richness of the reds in the frame.

I also caught up on my SAL - Tree of Stitches.  I have now done all 9 available parts and await Part 10 on Friday.  I am vey happy with how my blossom tree is blooming.

A Tree of Stitches

I would like to say hello to my new followers, I am excited that I now have reached 25 followers.  I was not sure anyone would look at my ramblings when I started, and thanks to everyone who had taken the time to comment as well.  I love the opportunity to share with fellow stitchers.

I have done some more of Chinese Mandala, but I am starting to run out of bits I can do until I get my Eterna Silks and my black rayon.  I love seeing everyone else's gorgeous progress and will post a piccie of this soon.

I have been sidetracked over the last 2-3 days by a new SAL.  I saw it on another blog, loved it and had to join.  The design is Tree of Stitches by Abi Gurden and is available through The Stitch Specialists Yahoo Group.  It uses a different stitch in each fortnightly part.  I decided to do mine as a spring blossom tree and my inspiration were blossom trees in a beautiful garden in Canberra.

I am stitching it on 32 count linen, Pacific Dreams from Stitches and Spice to emulate the blue spring sky.  The trunk is Gloriana Arroyo (172). the blossoms Pol stitches dragon floss Summer Fruits (63) and the green Threadworx 1046.  I have done 6 of the 9 available parts so far

I have been enjoying stitching this one and it is fun stitching some different stitches.
