How much will I get done this weekend?

Start of the month and the next instalment of Baroque.  Two little gardens with lots of specialty stitches - yay!

Here is my progress as of Saturday morning, so I can see how much I do by the end of the weekend.

I also like that I am still getting some new colours to use even after 10 months.

Happy weekend stitching

Part 9 of Baroque is complete

I have finished part 9 of Baroque just in time for Part 10 at the beginning of the month.

Firstly an overall piccie

I love this design with all its detail.  Martina puts so much work into researching and creating her designs.  The botanical illustrations she uses for the flower or plant panels were painted using plants from the actual castle garden, the castle being Schloss Gottorf and date from the 1600's.  Here are the original paintings and the over one panels.  The collection of illustrations is the Gottorfer Codex.

I found the panels accidentally while googling for illustrations of the fritillaria to see what it really looked like.

Partridge is framed

I have just picked up my first day of Christmas from my framer.

Nice and simple and I love it.  Wish it were closer to Christmas!

Over ones done!

I have finished the plant in the second panel of Part 9 of Baroque Gardens.  Lots of scattered stitches to do to finish.  24 DMC colours for this panel and most of them were shades of green.

I will do the frame and back stitching tomorrow and hopefully the rest of the border lines and be ready for part 10 at the beginning of the week.

My reward for finishing will be more over one stitching on hummingbird.  I would like to finish my second hummer.  Let's see what happens!

A Birthday Quilt

While I mostly stitch I have become more interested in quilting.  I love the wonderful variety of fabrics available and I have to admit to now having a bit of a stash of quilting fabrics.

These photos are of the only quilt I have finished so far and I made this for my mother for one of those significant birthdays.  The fabric is Posh from Moda and this was a Jelly Roll quilt with some extra fabric for the borders and the cream squares.

I quilted it myself and was very happy with how it turned out.  I have done a couple of machine quilting classes.  It is backed in a green fabric.

The following photos show some of the quilting detail

I have 3 other quilt tops completed but have not got around to quilting them yet.

I get to collect partridge from the framer's tomorrow and will drop off 2 turtle doves at the same time.

I have a goal this year to get everything that I have collected (stitching or otherwise) framed and displayed.

Happy stitching

My Roses

My roses (new this year and being carefully nutured) have just started their late summer blooming.  These are Delbard roses and are some of the painter series, named after famous artists.

I love the colours with the variegation, and they change as they open up.

Baroque has grown and the new panel is looking more like a plant and less like a blob.

Not perfect flower photos as it is sunny this morning.

Happy stitching and for my Northern Hemisphere friends spring is coming

The end of the weekend

This stitching hermit did not get quite as much done as she would have liked.  Work, life in general and a headache got in the way a little bit.

I did, however, stick to my stitching plan.  It really has been an 'over one' weekend.  I worked on Baroque yesterday but the flower doesn't quite look like anything yet so I have not photographed it.

I have been working on Hummingbird today and I did not quite get my second hummer finished, but it is nice to be stitching this one again (been out of rotation a bit long)

I hope everyone else had a good stitching weekend

As always, happy stitching
